Labour’s PM Gordon Brown has held talks with the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, in the final European leg of Obama’s world tour.
The Democratic candidate arrived at No 10 at around 9am and chatted and smiled with the PM in Downing Street’s garden before going on to discuss a number of policy issues including the international financial challenges, climate change, terrorism and the Middle East.
The pair then took a walk on Horse Guards Parade, and continued their discussions upstairs in the Number 10 state rooms.
A Downing Street spokesman said the talks were "warm and engaging".
Speaking on the steps of Downing Street, Barack Obama said that he had a “terrific conversation” with the PM and that a strong transatlantic relationship was needed to deal with a wide range of world issues.
