Britain in the world policy commission

Introduction Britain in the world

The Britain in the World policy commission deals with issues relating to foreign policy, defence and international development. The commission is responsible for engaging with the pa
rty on these policy issues, looking at how we address future challenges in these areas and building a dialogue with party stakeholders.

The work of the commission has focused on a range of issues including: how Labour can take forward its efforts to tackle global poverty and promote social justice, how we can work for peace and security in an increasingly uncertain world and continue to ensure our armed forces have the support they need and how we can engage with and promote reform in Europe.

The policy commission has two main roles. As part of the policy development process, the commission engages with local Labour parties, Labour’s affiliates and local communities in producing consultation and policy documents. The other main role is to discuss current issues, submissions from the public, the work of government and to give feed back to party members and affiliates.   For more information about the role of the Policy Commission, look at our pages on the Partnership in Power institutions – here.
