Bank bonuses remain at the previous year's levels while bank lending targets to small businesses are being missed - Chris Leslie

Chris LeslieChris Leslie MP, Labour's Shadow Treasury minister
, said in response to ONS figures showing bonuses in the financial and insurance sector were £14 billion in the last year:

"These figures show that bank bonuses remain at the previous year's levels while bank lending targets to small businesses are being missed. They underline Labour's argument that George Osborne should repeat the bank bonus tax this year and use the money raised to build more affordable homes, create up to 100,000 jobs for young people and support small businesses. Getting thousands of young people off the dole and into work and boosting our stalled economy would help to get the deficit down."
