We're seeing another exam fiasco unfolding under the stewardship of Michael Gove - Brennan9 November 2012
Kevin Brennan MP, Labour’s Shadow Schools Minister, responding to today’s announcement from Ofqual on changes to A levels, said:
"We’re seeing another exam fiasco unfolding under the stewardship of Michael Gove. Both Cambridge University and Universities UK say they don't want to follow Gove's approach.
"The examination system must command credibility and be respected by employers and universities alike.
"All pupils should study English and Maths until 18 and any reforms of the examination system must take account of both academic and vocational pathways.
"Changes must strengthen rigour and promote breadth in skills and knowledge, because that is what the high level jobs of the future economy will require.
"That is what we mean when we talk about delivering a One Nation education. Conversely, Michael Gove’s obsession with rote learning shows he is out of touch with the demands of the future economy."
