Shaun Woodward is the Labour MP for St Helens South and Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
Prior to taking on his current role, Shaun was Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
He has also served as an Under-Secretary of State at the Northern Ireland Office. Shaun has worked on a number of select committees including the Joint Committee on Human Rights.
Shaun was elected as MP for St Helens South in the 2001 General Election, having first entered Parliament as MP for Witney in 1997.
Shaun was educated in Bristol and Cambridge University. He worked throughout the 1980s in television news and current affairs.
Shaun was first a researcher for BBC’s That’s Life! programme, subsequently working for Newsnight and Panorama. He later became Editor of That’s Life!
Shaun went on to teach at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and at Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London.
